MISS FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE.
Receives the Order of Merit. London, Nov. 30. His Majesty the King has conferred the Order of Merit on Miss Florence Nightingale, who is the first lady to receive the Order. (Miss Nightingale, born at Florence in 1820, was the organiser of nursing in the Crimean War, and on receiving a sum of ,£50,000 as a testimonial for that work she devoted the whole to the foundation of the Nightingale Home for the training of nurses. Miss Nightiugah has published a number of works on nursing and kindred subjects.
