ATHLETIC CLUB.

A committee meeting was held on Thursday night in Gray’s Hotel, Mr Perreau being in the chair.

It was decided to add a flax spreading competition to the programme for the sports, the prize being a gold medal, donated by Mr Perreau. Special judges were appointed for the event, and the club anticipate large entries, as there seems to be a good deal of difference existing amongst the various flaxmill employees, as to which possesses the best paddocker. No doubt the matter will be settled for at least a little while by the competition. Mr O. Austin has kindly donated sufficient fibre for this event. (

Various other matters were dis-L cussed, and the offer of the Levin) Dramatic Club to give a performance on sport’s night, was accepted. The piece to be staged is the brilliant farcical comedy, “Jane,” which is at present being played with great success in other inland towns, and as the company is well known in Foxton, they are sure to draw a crowded house.

The secretary was instructed to procure all the trophies promised, and display same in one of the local shop windows.
