DOMINION DAY.
A long communication has been received by the Mayor from the Premier in reference to what is going to happen in Wellington to celebrate Dominion Day, 26th inst. The declaration will be read by His Excellency to be followed by a salute from the Man-o’-War and forts. Royal salute and short speeches by the Governor and Minister will take place in Newtown Park in the afternoon. A reception will be held at Government House at 4.30 p.m., torchlight processions through city at 7.30 p.m. and reception in Town Hall 8.30 to 10 p.m. The message states that a copy of the Dominion Declaration to be read by His Excellency will be forwarded, which can be read to the residents of Fox\ ton at 11 a.m. V
The Mayor in this issue invites the residents of Foxton to observe a public holiday on Thursday next, to celebrate the event. The declaration will probably be read officially at the Council Chambers by either the Mayor or Clerk at 11 a. m. on Thursday.
