AFFAIRS IN IRELAND.
A Death-blow at Landlordism. London, September 5. Mr L. Ginnell, NationalistM. P. for Westmeath North, speakig at Killelagh, in county Londonderry, stated that some members of the Government would be glad to see the cattle-drivers deal a death-blow at all landlordism and ranching by clearing the land. Then they could get Parliament to ratify it, Mr Ginnell said drivers need not fear getting into trouble, as some members of the Government would see that they were treated very kindly. . [Last week Mr Ginnell was reported to have advised a meeting in Meath to clear the ranches speedily, adding that if this were done the number of police would be found insufficient to prevent the clearances. A cable message published yesterday stated that, at Kells, Mr Ginnell urged the men of Meath to turn and rend the ranching demon, by driving off cattle, thereby helping to pass a good Land Act in 1908.]
The Belfast Shooting. London, September 5 The Tracies Congress at Bath, by a unanimous vote, passed by a resolution asking the Government to cause a searching inquiry to be made into the shooting of strikers at Belfast. Some speakers strongly blamed Mr Birrell, Chief Secretary for Ireland, for the occurrences. Mansion House Stormed.
