THE POST OFFICE.
The information, which we publish elsewhere, to the effect that the Government have under consideration the placing of a sum on the Estimates for the erection of a new post office for Foxton, will be interesting news to residents. We are afraid our readers are tired of hearing about this subject. Time and again we have hammered away about the disgractful building which now does duty as a post office, with its primitive appointments, worm-eaten timber, and insanitary, damp, and cramped living apartments. Since the large deputation waited upon Mr Stevens, he has not released his hold upon the Ministerial garment. The Chamber oi Commerce and Borough Council have also taken a hand in the agitation. We think it is now safe to assume that the erection of a new and modern edifice is within measurable distance.
