THE SCHOOL CONCERT.
Wk have received a letter from a correspondent signed “Parent” complaining of the time wasted by the children in preparing for the recent concert. “Parent” concludes, “ I contend that it is the duty of the master to use the school hours for the thorough education of those consigned to his care and not to make them would-be actresses or mountebanks, I would like to see the school attain a more superior standard from our educational point of view than it is at the present time.” We are of opinion that our correspondeut has taken up the subject in a wrong spirit. The time occupied by the scholars in preparing for the concert has not been wasted. Nay, we think it has been of educational value to the children. _ Further, the result of their efforts has been to equip the school with an excellent library and a sewing machine for the girls —which will further raise the standard of our school. We feel sure the majority of parents will view the matter in this light.
