STATE SCHOOL CONCERT.

The State School concert was repeated in the Public Hall on Thursday night, when another good attendance was recorded. All the items were well rendered and highly appreciated. The total takings for the two nights amounted to The expenses totalled £7 is, leaving a credit of .£30198.

The only alteration in the programme from the previous night was the addition of the song “Chatterbox,” nicely sung by Frida de Ridden Jim Hennessy replaced Garnet Fraser, who was absent, in the amusing nigger drill item.

Mr Adams has decided to utilise the funds for two purposes, viz., a school library and the purchase of a sewing machine for the elder girls’ classes, which, we are sure, will meet with the hearty approval of the parents. We understand the Government subsidise libraries £ for £, so that with a portion of the funds in hand and anticipating Government assistance, the nucleus of a first-class library will be formed, which will greatly add to the scholars’ mental recreation. We congratulate Mr Adams, his staff, and the scholars upon the success of their concert, and hope the affair will be an annuallyrecurring one.
