A United States cutter has captured twenty Japanese seal poachers at the PribylofE Islands (Alaska'. The Western Federation of Miners, by 288 votes to 66, resolved to pledge all the members to socialism. It is intended to assemble a convention at Chicago, in order to organise a political party to participate in the nominations for the next national Presidential election.
London, July 1
Several balloons which ascended for a race from Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin) to London, during a heavy thunderstorm, narrowly escaped accident. One aeronaut received an electric shock.
Mr Kelly, the Galway Magistrate who is accused of having made a speech inciting the people to murder Lord Ashtown, a Galway landlord, has been committed for trial. Bail was allowed.
