THE ILL-FATED KIA ORA.
Tidings and Survivors. AUCKLAND, June 17. The Northern Steamship Company has received the information that the Muritai has rescued the remaining survivors of tne Kia Ora wreck. After landing passengers at Kawhia the Muritai proceeds to Onehunga with the rest of the Kia Ora’s crew, arriving there to-night. The following members of the crew and passengers by the Kia Ora were taken to Kawhia to-day—Mrs Cox, Mr and Mrs Kavanagh, Mr Partridge, Messrs Baggstrom and Lister (ongineers), De Wolff (mate), Robinson (second mate), Miss Keller (stewardess) Petersen (chief steward), De Kolia (cook’s boy), Johnson (cabin boy) Andrews, A. B. Pratt, Baraclough, Hirdson, and Lush had previously walked to Kawhia. Mr and Mrs Mclntosh and two children went over land to Kinohaku.
After careful inquiry the manager of the Northern Steamship Company has come to the conclusion that only three persons were drowned in the wreck of the Kia Ora.
