FOOTBALL.

— ♦ Albions, 10. Awahou, 0. The first round for the Hickson Cup was played on the racecourse yesterday, the Albions succeeding in defeating their opponent by 10 to nil. The Awahou team was a very ragged one and they had the misfortune to lose one of their best players at the commencement of the game. The Albions played well together no one being worthy ot comment more than another. A Cook scored from a forward rush, and W. Cook kicked a goal from a mark obtained by Shields. On changing sides Albions had all the best of it and shortly after the commencement Riramer got over from a forward rush, after this the Awahous were never dangerous. The Albions with a little training should take a lot of beating as their pack is faster than the ordinary run of forwards, the same may be said of the backs. The following team will represent Albions in their match against Rongotea at Foxton on Saturday next : —W. Coley, Joe Williams, Kerry, Mullins, Franklin, Geo. Robinson, Geo. Rimmer, Elsmore, J. Broad, W. Hunter, Stevenson, Hannah, J. Bowe, McEwen, B. Robinson. Emer. Eark, Royal, Edwards, W. Cook, Howan, Earkins, R. Newth, B. Dunn, Chalk. The team to represent Awahou Club at Sandon on Saturday next will be picked from the following : Osboldstone, Hooker, J. Reid, Woodford, Redgrave, J. Dunn, S. Wright, J. Joe, J. Coley, ShiaShea, Saville, Shadbolt, Williams, Reihana, W. Robinson, F. Spiers, J. Bowe, and J. Walden. The drag will leave Foxton at x i a.m. While playing in the football match, Albion v Awahou yesterday, Mr Bert Wilson (Awahou) was accidentally kicked behind the ear by a member of his own team and was rendered unconscious. He was removed to his home where he received medical attention. We are pleased to report that he is making a satisfactory recovery.
