By a fall of earth in Kilbirnie tunnel on Friday night three men named Barrett, Harrington, and Flie were killed and two others seriionsly injured. The verdict of the jury was, “That John Klie, Alfred Harrington, and William Henry Barrett were accidentally killed by a fall of earth in the Kilbirnie tunnel.” They added a rider, “That, in the jury’s opinion, there was not sufficient expert supervision exercised on the works during the night shifts.”
