QUOITS.
Another friendly meeting between the two local Clubs took place on Saturday afternoon. Owing to the heavy wind and dull atmosphere it was anything but conducive to good play, and as the pitch had considerably hardened during the week quoits . turning “ turtle ” were frequent. The two veterans of the F. Q. 0. (Reide and Henderson) played Williams and Newth (P. W. Q. C.) and scored an easy win by 19 points. However, Williams and Hooker, sen. F. W. Q. C. had their revenge, beating Henderson and Reeves (F. Q, C.) by 7 points. A single followed between Henderson and Williams, the former winning by 1 point (11 up.) It is pleasing to notice that these friendly matches are to be continued each Saturday, hut if the game is to be a success it is most essential that a proper pitch should be prepared, for there is nothing so disheartening to the player who throws a good length for his Quoit to turn turtle on account of the hardness of the ground.
