Auckland, Dec. 6. The Manukau election passed off quietly to-day. The result (with one small ’return to come, which cannot affect the result, but will probably increase Mr Dang’s majority) is as follows F. W. Dang 2501 G. Ballard , ... ... 1266 Majority ... ... 1235 The figures for the 1905 general election are : Kirkbride 2977,, Stewart 2334. Mr F. W. Massey, leader of the Opposition,. made a short speech, thanking the electors for returning an oppositionist 4 and freeholder. The tremendous majority showed what the electors thought of the leasehold proposals of the Government. The election would have a wonderful influence in connection with the land proposals.
