ALL SAINTS CHURCH.

; At All Saints Church, yesterday evening, the Bishop of Wellington (Dr Wallis) bestowed the gift of Confirmation upon seven candidates presented by the vicar of the parish. There was a good congregation present and the sieging was very hearty, the choir doing their-important duty very efficiently. The Bishop’s addresses were listened to with close attention. He spoke first from I Kings xix n is- and dwelt upon the work of God the Holy Ghost in quickening and teaching the V still small voice’’ of conscience. In his second address, the Bishop spoke from Rom. vm 91° and showed that one great reason for which our Lord Jesus Christ descended from heaven was that He might dwell in His people. This mysterious and blessed union between Christ and Christians is accomplished by the working of the Holy Spirit. In this truth is seeti the purpose Of the Gift of the Spirit in Confirmation, By all the means of grace the Holy Spirit sustains and strengthens our union with Christ, but in highest and greatest measure by the sacrament qf the Lord’s body and blood. On Thursday night, the Bishop confirmed at St. Simon and St. Judes. Rongotea; to-day he goes to Alfredton where he will spend Sunday.
