MR BLIGH’S LECTURE.
A WELL-ATTENDED MEETING. Resolution Supporting the AntiQuackery Bill. Mr Bligh, the travelling representative ot the White Cross League, delivered two of his manly, instructive and uplifting lectures in Foxton yesterday afternoon and evening. The afternoon address was delivered to women, but owing to the lecture not being sufficiently made public was only moderately attended. At the evening lecture to men there was a good' muster, including many youths. Mr Clemett occupied the chair. The speaker, whose pleasant and earnest manner, and enthusiasm for the cause of purity and Godliness, was attentively listened to and his remarks were frequently endorsed by hearty outbursts of applause from the audience. He spoke of the law of reproduction and the gruesome mystery with which it was surrounded ; of the temptations which beset our youths, of secret sins and how to overcome them ; denounced the quack fiend and electric belt vendors; the proper conduct towards women, etc. On Mr Bligh concluding a most stirring speech, the Rev. Mr Wilson in a brief speech, proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker, which was seconded by Mr Speirs. Mr Hornblow proposed and Mr Reade seconded a resolution to the effect that this meeting supports Mr Hornsby’s Anti-Quackery Bill, a copy of the resolution to be forwarded to the member for the district with a request that he give the measure his support in the House. The resolution was carried unanimously. Mr Bligh answered several questions and the usual compliment to the chair concluded the meeting.
