Football Sports.
TO-MORROW. The football sports at the racecourse to-morrow afternoon are likely to be largely attended and interesting. Thanks to earnest enthusiasts, the many trophies donated by townspeople are all worth winning, and should attract large nominations, which close on the ground to-morrow with the secretary. There are three teams in the senior, six in the junior, and three in the schoolboy seven-a-side competitions. Sandon A play Awahou B in the junior class at quarter to one sharp, while Sandon B and Awahou A follow right on. At 1.30 the 220 yards event will be run, and Sandon will play Foxton B schoolboys at the same hour. Then the running with the ball event, after which the order will be : Sandon v. Awahou B seniors ; Albion A and B juniors ; dropkicking ; place-kicking; junior semi-final ; schools final; senior final—winners against Awahou A ; junior final. Messrs Nash, Frew and Robinson will act as referees; seven minutes spells will be played, with l / 2 point counting against a touch down if no other score is registered. All clubs are requested to bring what footballs they have. Messrs Laing and 0. Austin will act as judges in the running events, and Messrs Scott-Wilson and E. Nash in th® kicking events. Competitors in all events must wear football boots and attire. All trophies will be presented at the concert in the evening.
