Bambaata’s Rebellion
BRITISH SQUADRON
CAUGHT.
Pietermaritzburg, June 6,
The rebels ambushed Captain Clark’s squadron of Royston’s Horse at the bottom of a donga*. Three hundred of them charged through the fifteen troopers, and, returning, surrounded them. Captain Clark, lying wounded, continued to empty his revolver and urge his men to keep steady and help the wounded. The defenders fought desperately, sheltering behind masses of rock and tangled undergrowth,’ At length the remainder of Royston’s Horse arrived and relieved them.
Trooper Robertson, an Aus» tralian, was killed, and another Australian, trooper was wounded, Siganandi is hiding in a long line of caves. A big enveloping movement has been begun,
