Turkey and Great Britain.

London April 27. A battery of horse Artillery, and three companies of Inniskilling Fusiliers from Crete have been transferred to Egypt. Reuter reports it is intended to increase the garrison to five thousand.

The Times’ Cairo correspondent says the report credited in official circles is that the Turks destroyed the boundary pillars at Rafa, near El Arish (an Egyptian village on the Mediterranean, held to mark the boundary between Egypt and Syria, Africa, and Asia.) In the House of Commons Sir Edward Grey, Foreign Secretary, stated that Lord Cromer, the Egyptian authority, considers that in view of the unrest existing in Egypt, which in some measure is due to the action of the Porte in connection with the front dispute, it it desirable to reinforce the garrison. This will be done but the actual details are still under consideration. It is impossible to say how long the increase will be necessary. This must depend wholly on circumstances. The Times declares that Sir Edward Grey’s statement as to the increase of the garrison and his reference to the Porte’s action was a serious announcement and itjtrusts the significance will quickly be understood at Constantinople and Cairo.
