TRUTH! YE GODS.
Our flourishing and progressive borough without one single nomination for the office of Mayor ! Such is the case, aud the Town Clerk (Alf. Fraser Esq.) advertises an extraordinary vacancy to-day. Efforts are being made to secure the services of different townsmen, and it is to be hoped the search shall not be in vain. The position is certainly a thankless one, aud we don’t wonder at townsmen shirking the office. But, the fact is that we want a Mayor, and we trust that before nomination day comes round some sound thinking person may be influenced to accept office and fill the Mayoral chair. To think of it! “A Borough without sufficient life to nominate a Mayor.” And that Borough is Foxton ! However, what does it really matter ! Perhaps it ain’t worth the while.
