A Village Surprised.
Sydnky, October 80. ■ Mews has been received from Noumea that the French warship from the New Hebridies, with the warship Pegasus, landed a force at Bushman’s Bay and surprised the village of Nuvaav. Five natives were killed and several wounded. Fifty were captured. The villagers had Iroquently attacked the white and challenged the warships to attack hem.
