Advices have been received from Wanganui to the effect that Mr Bassett, one of the Opposition candidates, has excellent prospects of winning the seat. Mr Hogan, who is Standing in the Government interest, is expected to poll well, and will interfere with the sitting member's (Mr Willis) chances. Mr Haselden, an ex-member of the House, who is also standing as an Oppositionist, is handicapped by the fact that, he is not a local man.
