An Immense Debt.
London, Oct 25. In his annual statement M. E. A. Cornwall, chairman of the London County Council, showed that the debt of the County Council amounted to £44,620,266, including £11,500,000 taken over from the late School Board also £5,5000,000 in respect of remunerative purposes not involving a burden on the rates. The expenditure in London for the vearjust concluded is £19,250,000 fourfold that of Denmark. As a result of the opening ot the Kingsway, the new thoroughfare from the Strand to Holborn, and the visit of the Parisian municipal dele--gfttes, Mr E. A. Cornwall, chairman of the London County Council, has been knighj**.
