Foxton School Matters.
THE PREMIER DEPUTATIONIBBD. The depu-afciou re Foxfcon Sehool waited on the Minister' of Education at Wellington yesterday. Thera were present Messrs Fraser, Pi ran f, Lethbridge, M.H.R., members of the Education Board, the Mayor, and the Chairman and Secretary of the School Committee, They were in* uoduccd by Mr Yilo, M.H.R. Mr Fraser acted as spokesman, and pointed out the urgent need of a new school, as the present nccommo' dation was far short of requirements* The building bad been condemned both by a Government Health (?&- cer, and also by the Chief Inspector' and tbs Board’s architect. Tenders bad benn called for the erection of a new school, and the Board now asked the Government to give them £ for£ subsidy to build a new school. Mr Pirani and Mr Lethbridge also spoke. The Minister promised to send the Inspector-General to report in a few days, and if his report was favourable the sub idy would be granted, as it was not right that the health of the children should suffer. The deputtt’ons thanked the Premier and withdrpw.
