The Manawatu Seat.

ANOTHER CANDIDATE. The “ Manawatu Times ” understands that at the request of a lai'gd number of electors, Mr Oswald Gardner, of Palmerston North, has definitely decided to contest the Manawatu seat at the forthcoming ejection. The present aspirants for election are Mr Vile (present member) and Mr John Stevens. It is said that Mr Gardner is coming out as an independent candidate with a leaning to the present party in power. Through business reasons, Mr Gardner, at the previous election, was prevented at the last moment from announcing his candidature, which was regretted by many at the time. It is said that Mr Stevens is likely to withdraw from the contest.
