Manawatu how.

The Manawatu Poultry Association’s advertisement relating to their Poultry, pigeon, and cage bird show will be found in this issue. Trie show is to be held on the aist, 22nd and 23rd June, and the judges are for poultry Mr J. J. Casey, of Khandallah, Mr A; S. Palmer, of Washdyke. Timaru, and Mr W. A. Sowman, of Blenheim; ducks, Mr W. A. Sowman; pigeons, Mr W. Fraser, of Christchurch; Canaries, Mr R. Thompson, of Christchurch. The North Island poultry championsips allotted to the show are for brown leghorns, Aylesbury ducks, magpie pigeons, and Norwich crested canaries. Prize money is awarded on a liberal scale together with 31 one guinea specials in cash allotted to the various breeds, in most cases the sexes are divided providing a special for the male and a special for the female. Additional' to these specials the Association are issuing a list of further specials to be awarded at tne show of which there will be probable £lO to £ls worth at least. In connection with this show it should he noted that it is held simultaneously with the Winter Dairy show of the Manawatu & West Coast A. & P. Association and in the same buildings for which a special poultry hall of roo x6O is provided. Seeing that in the past two years the attendance at the winter show has been something like 12,000 to 14,000 people, and the poultry sales at the last winter show were over £IOO it goes without saying that more than passing note should he made of this show by poultry breeders throughout the colony, and the consequent advantages accruing will doubtless be largely availed of. The financial position of the Association is guaranteed by the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association. Entries close on June Bth and all communications should be addressed to the secretary, J. C. Lane, Palmerston North.
