School Committee.
The new committee met last eveninf. Present: Mesdame* Frankland and Haywood, Messrs Baker (chairman), 'Barnard, Betty, Frankland, Gray, and Rev. Wilson. The contractor for the new shelter shed was given an additional fortnight in which to complete the work having been delayed through inability to get timber. The Education Board will be asked to provide a chimney for the infants’ room. Some discussion took place on the granting of exemptions, and in view of the serious influence which repeated absences have upon the children’s welfare it was thought advisable to make a test case on the matter which was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary to deal with. Mesdame* Frankland and Haywood, with the chairman and secretary, were appointed a visiting committee for the month.
