Moutoa Notes.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Several Foxton sportsmen were out here recently, hut though there must have seen considerably over a hundred pukeko they were only able to secure half-a-dozen, as the birds were too wide-awake.
At the general meeting of householders for the election of anew school Committee, only four were present, which is all one can really expect considering that many of the parents live three or four miles away from the •chool. During the last year a great many improvements have been done to the school grounds; paths and a part of the grounds have been metalled, a shed built, trees planted and fenced off, the school itself fenced round for gardens, and lately the boys have laid out a cricket pitch of boards. It is found impossible to raise a football team in Moutna owing to the fact that Mr W. Walden’s mill and very likely one or two others are to be closed town soon for the winter. Several players from here will, however, be found in the Foxton teams.
