Disturbed Russia.

MAY DAY RIOTS. POPULACE OPPOSED BY THE TEG /PS. London, May x. May Day riots are proceeding at Warsaw. In an encounter with the troops several persons were killed. Eastertide passed quietly throughout Russia. Sr. Petersburg, May 2. The first disturbance at Warsaw was in the afternoon. A procession of 5000 workmen marched the streets, carrying red flags and singing revolutionary songs, but were otherwise harmless,

The Cossacks and infantry fired repeatedly, causing numerous casualties.

A squadron of Uhlans appeared, but did not attempt to interfere until backed by infantry, when the Uhlans charged with their swords, the infantry firing volleys. The hospital authorities admit that 81 pe'rsons were kilted, and that 15 were severely wounded and many slightly. It is reported that the police carried away 60 killed and wounded and arrested 51 rioters. They also captured the red flags. The injured include women and children.

There is intense indignation amongst the populace since the attacks were unprovoked.

After the first collision Cossacks were extremely provocative, using their whips freely against the crowds.

A man harmlessly fired at an infantry patrol, which immediately fired indiscriminately, killing 25 and wounding 20. Late in the evening a third collision resulted in the killing of four workmen and the wounding of many others.

A bomb hurled at a Cossack patrol killed three and one policemen.

The crowds at Lodz atoned the military who fired, killing two. Later a bomb was thrown at the patrol, who fired, killing three and wounding two. All is quiet at St. Petersburg except that a bomb exploded in a private house, injuring two students who were handling it.
