TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING ft is fiMoUfad that even the Royal (Land) 1 Commissioners fbefll<«Jves are getting a little weary of their eifcns trip. The three' guineas p'ef diem are, no doubt, a consolation,- but the recipients of this emolument have (d endure much. It is said that the secretaries and officials of labour unions make a point of tendering evidence, and that for an hour or two at a stretch the commissioners have to sit and listen to the ideas of amiable enthusiasts, who have never been on land, and who know nothing at all about it. Some ot the commissioners do know something about land, and it must be fearfully galling to them to have to sit and listen to men whose colossal ignorance of the subject is so painfully obvious. If the commissioners would only look upon the whole procedure as a COBI'C opera " they would be easier in their ffijodj 5. but > unfortunately, they take the busin't* 8 seriously.
