Borough Finance.
The following figures were submitted to the Borough Council last evening by the treasurer, Mr Alf. Fraser: — Since last ordinary meeting the sum of £241 14s 8d has been paid into the streets loan account and £65 xos fid into the district fund account, making the present bank balances £328 2S fid and £l7O 3; gd respectively. The balances of the various separate accounts were as follows (in credit): — Library, ±4B xos nd; reserves, £SB 18s 3d; cemetery, £1 4s 3d; interest, £B9 10s; streets loan, £328 2! fid. The general account showed a debit of £27 tfis 4d. No intimation has been received from the Treasury Department regarding the council’s application for a farther loan to complete roads and strests. The treasurer pointed out that on the present rates (he council would require to exercise strict economy during the coming vear, as it was starting with a debit balance of £27 16 4d against a credit balance last year of £39 ixs id —a difference of £57 73 3d.
