Mac Mahon’s Dramatic Coy.
“THE SUNNY SOUTH."
The dramatic season to be inaugurated on Monday night at the Public Hall by the Messrs MacMahon promises to prove an extraordinary success. For weeks past local playgoers have eagerly looked forward to the appearance in Foxton of the world-renowned actor-author, Mr George Darrell, whose name has been a household word, not alone in Australasia, but in every part of the English-speaking world. The company engaged by the Messrs MacMahon to support the “ star ’’ numbers no less than 24 actors and actresses of high standing in the theatrical profession, chief among whom may be mentioned Mr Oily Deering, Mr Harry Hodson, Mr Fx-ank Hawthorne, Mr A. W. Boothman, Mr G. Merriman, Mr L. Walsh, Mr L. Vane, Mr Henderson, Miss Ada Lawrence, Miss Hilda Meade, Miss May Renno, Mrs Barry Nane, etc., etc. The initial production, which will be given on Monday evening, is Mr George Darrell’s drama in five acts, entitled “ The Sunny South,’’ which is said to be the only Australian play that has been presented with unparalleled success in England, America, Africa, and Australasia. Mr Darrell will of course take the character of the hero, Mat Morley, a part created and played by him over 1000 times, and we advise all those who intend being present to at once secure their tickets. Day sale tickets may be obtained at A. Fraser’s. . On Tuesday evening “ Transported for Life ” will be presented.
