BATTLESHIP LAUNCHED r The battleship Britannia has been launched. BURNS’BIBLE. Robert Burns’ Bible, with birth entries, was sold for £1,500. A SUSPECTED STEAMER STOPPED. LONDON, Deo. 12. The British cruiser Fox, at Perim (an island at the southern entrance to the Red Sea), stopped the steamer St. Leonard on suspicion of carrying coal for the Russians. She was subsequently released. RUSSIAN SOLDIERS IN REVOLT. LONDON, Dec. 12. Three regiments at Vitebsk rebelled and plundered the town. When reprimanded the commandant of the town committed suicide. Two regiments at Vyiakina acted similarly. IN AID OF THE UNEMPLOYED. King Edward heartily commends the Mansion House unemployed fund and has contributed 250 guineas, while the Queen has subscribed 200 and the Prince of Wales 150. The Iveagh and Peabody trustees have contributed five thousand, the Roths, childs three thousand and the Duke of Westminster two thousand.
