Abduction of a Girl.
AUCKLAND, This Day. George Sullivan, a member of the East Lynne Dramatic Coy., was committed for trial for the abduction of Mary McSweeney, at Hamilton with criminal intent. Accused and the girl stayed for some time in an Auckland hotel as brother and sister. The girl, who is fifteen years of age, stated the accused induced her to run away from her home, promising to take her to America and England but deserted her in Auckland, and he was arrested in Taranaki. Accused said he met the glfl in Auckland at her own request, that she declined to go back to her parents, and he, not knowing what to do with her, put her up in an Auckland hotel. Bail was allowed in two sureties of £SO each.
