BRITISH STEAMER STOPPED. BLOCKADE RUNNERS CAUGHT. A Japanese cruiser fired upon, stopped, examined and released a British steamer. The Mikado has conferred upon Colonel Hoad, the Australian military attache, the order of the Rising cun. This is the first conferred on any attache. The Japanese discovered 80 junks which had organised at Kiaochau to run the Port Arthur blockade, relying on the advantages of the Russian guns and mines to give the junks assistance. THE MYSTERipUS CRUISERS. Naval circles believe that the mysterious cruisers belong to the Russian volunteer fleet on the look out for contraband aboard Australian traders to the East. The Pylades reached the spot on Monday, and was instructed to telegraph the result of investigations immediately. The Cadmus sailed from Sydney yesterday morning to warn the Russians that they must not coal at Thursday Island.
