Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association.
The Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s prize schedule for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of November, contains some interesting improvements and enlargements on last year’s list. For thoroughbred horses the list is the same as last year, but amongst the pony classes an innovation in the shape of two polo pony competion is made. Two extra classes have been added to the draught list, providing for the regularly working tradesman’s light horse and for the farmer’s mare or gelding for spring cart. Liberal prizes are offered tor cattle, always a special feature of the Association’s shows. The sheep prize list for last year being considered ample and liberal, no alterations have been made. An addition to the pig classes has been made providing for any recognised breed oFpurebreds not otherwise enumerated, Dog and poultry fanciers should be satisfied with the competitions set aside for them and with the arrangements which are promised for the care of exhibits in Palmerston. On the first day November 2nd, Hie various events to be decided will include a Victoria Cross competition section jumping and leaping, an addition race, maiden hunters competition, and public and high school cadets squad contest. The second day will see a leaping competition (steeplechase style) and on the third day various interesting driving events will take place. A new event, best lady rider over jumps is decided on that day, also a handicap woodchopping event takes place. Excellent prizes are offered and entries are expected from all parts of the Island. A persual of the free 64 page prize list makes interesting reading and should be in the hands of all show exhibitors.
