LONDON, September 12. The marriage of Miss Constance, daughter of Sir James Thompson Ritchie, Lord Mayor of London, to Mr J. A. McCalman. of the Egyptian irrigation service, was fixed to take place to-day. Three hundred presents were exhibited on Saturday, and Mr McCalman was expected at the Mansion House "at lunch and dinner. He, however, did not put in appearance, but sent a letter in the evening breaking off the engagement. No explanation was made, and the matter came .as a cruel surprise, as there had been no quarrel.
