The above named Society assembled together last Wednesday evening at • Mr 1 Stewart’s residence for the purpose of discussing the Liquor question. * Ir L; Tenks was elected to the chair. Mi Hunter supported the cause of No ypease, Mr Hutchison that of Reduc-
(ion, while Mr .Moore advocated State Control. After the subject had been thoroughly discussed, a vote was taken, the results being ; —State Control 5 ; No License 2; Reduction t. Those who decided in favour of State Control however, only regarded it as an expedient to secure the ultimate abolition ;.f )lu; Li-1 i-n- ir.dVr.r. The gentleman v hovu-.i an IN Inchon also s ippmlid it on the principle that '“ball'a loaf was better that) no bread.” The following members took part in the debate besides 1 lu>lu,a 1 k-r-; •-—>.!■•s.srs W. Barnard, Ham';-, L. Jen!::-, E. Snolman, and L. Alxdorf. The same question was debated by the Levin it dmling Society a short while ago, when No License was carried by a narrow majority.
