Dr Dowie.
Dr Dowie had another disorderly meeting in the Town Hall, Sydney, on Tuesday night. Numerous police were unable to keep the audience in check, and had to desist. A demonstrative crowd, of many hundreds, was gathered outside the Hotel Australia, where Dowie is staying, awaiting his return from the meeting, and when his cab drove up he was greeted with howls and derisive shouts, A rush was made for Dowie, but the cabby whipped up, got clear, and drove away. Dowie’s son, in another cab faced the crowd and reached his hotel. The crowd continued hooting and shouting and demanding Dowie, until the police cleared the street.
