The Sports Meeting.

A meeting to arrange about getting up a sports gathering on St. Patrick’s Day was held at Mr I* sett’s Hotel on Tuesday evening. There was a good attendance of about 30 persons and much enthusiasm was showp. Mr Noonan was voted to the chair.

The Chairman remarked that the meeting had been convened for the Specific purpose of providing some amusement and recreation on _ St, Patrick’s Day, and he hoped that those present would do all in their power to bring the mattov to a successful issue.

It was resolved to call the club the St, Patrick’s Day Sports and Picnic Club.

After slight discussion it was decided to hold a meeting on the 17th March, on the Victoria Park, and the following were elected to the respective offices:—Patron, Mr Job Kile, M.H.R.; President, Mr 0. jifltin; Vice-presidents, Dr Bennett, and Messrs Levett, Haywood, W. Gray, A. Laing, S. Hickson, A. Reeves, A. King, G. Coley, J. Symons, H. Christian, R. Noonan, and W. Baker; Treasurer, Mr E. Healey; Timekeeper, Mr Wanklyn; Judges, Messrs G. Simpson, W. Walden, L. Wilson, W. Cook, A. D. Clemett and E. Ball; Starter, Mr A. Shadbolt; Handicappers, Messrs L. Furrrie and J, Frew; Secretaries, Messrs A. I>. Spring and E. Dunn; Committee, Messrs F. Martin, H. Bradcock, J. Frew, B. Dunn, H. Siggs, R. Baker, M. Perreau, R Howard and J. Gillett; Programme Committee, Messrs L. Furrie, J. Frew, A. Shadbolt, H. Siggs, R. Baker, J. Gillett, E. Healey, A. Spring and E. Dunn. It was decided to fix the mem ber’s fee at 2s 6d (exclusive of admission to the ground.) The following donations were promised in the room: Mr Levett, £2 2s; Mr E. Dnnn, £ 1 Is and gold brooch; Messrs Langley Bros., £1 Is; Mr Christian, photographic album (for bike race under 18.) The programme committee will meet at Mr Gray’s hotel to-morrow evening, and draw up a programme of events, which will be submitted to a general meeting next week. The ■usual courtesy to the chair and to Mr Levett for the use of the room brought a very successful meeting to a close.
