As soon as the proposed River Board has been formed a report from an engineer will be obtained as to the feasibility of the proposal to cut an overflow channel from the Manawatu River, at a point a short distance below its confluence with the Oroua River, to the sea, a distance of ten miles. This it is anticipated will relieve the whole of the country between Glen Oroua, Longburn and Shannon from overflooding. The meeting decided to ask the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company to issue free passes to the deputation that will wait on the Governor.
