A Mammoth Steamer.
The Baltic, one of the mammoth steamers built for the White Star line, has just been launched. She will ba a remarkable ship in many ways. Her tonnage is 24,000 3000 greater than the Cedric, her nearest rival. She is 21 feet ionger than the Oceanic. She will carry 28.000 tons. Designed for Liverpool and New York service, special attention has been paid to passenger accommodation. She has room for nearly 8000, and will carry a crew of 850. The grand dining saloon will seat 370 persons. The voyager may be as exclusive on board as he chooses, suites of private apartments —beds, sitting and bathroom—being provided. Single berth staterooms are for the first time introduced on an Atlantic liner. Third-class passengers will have their comfort well looked after, staterooms for two, three or four persons being provided, while the diningrooms are unusually comfortable Her engines will be of 18.000 indicated horse power, and her speed from IGi to 17 knots.
