Dix’s Gaiety Co.

With four theatres established in the chief centres of the colony which are prominently devoted to refined vaudeville, and with Touring Com. panies travelling the Colony, it was often asked why Mr P. R. Dix never sent one of them to Foxton. We have now much pleasure in announcing a visit from his No. 4 Touring Company of English, American, and Australian Vaudeville Stars. Phis fino combination is to appear for one night only at the Public Hall next Thursday, but should, the theatregoing community appreciate the enterprise of the popular manager in sending to odr doors the same class of entertainment that attracts crowded audiences nightly in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, then Foxton will be regularly included in Mr Dix’s circuit, and we shall have the opportunity of seeing all his latest imported vaudeville performers. The present company comprises the pick of the talent under engagement to Mr Dix, and they come direct from the Theatre Royal, Wellington, where they attracted crowded audiences nightly for over two months. It is essentially a “laughing show,” but the laughing is obtained without the slightest suggestion of anything vulgar, This is the particular charm of all Mr Dix’s companies, and accounts for their great success in New Zealand. A ■ plan of-reserved seats for the Foxton season is now open at Mr Alf. Fraser's establishment, and as there is every indication'; of a record “house,” intending patrons would be wise. to secure seats •in advance.
