Miracles of old Explained by X-Rays.
* Even as the X-ray has become a permanent and important factor in surgery, so many clergymen in the Bronx and in Manhattan believe, and are declaring to-day, it will become • a feature in the teaching of religion in that it can be brought forward as a wonderful and material factor to prove that many of the miracles described in tbe Bible are not socalled “ products of Oriental imaginations.” The possibility of the X-ray as an aid to the pulpit came first to the Rev. Rather Ruppert, of Oklahama, who ha? been staying in the Bronx, where he has been under X-ray treatment by Dr Albert C. Geyser. Some of the experiments that the physician showed to the priest- in the way of duplicating the miracles told in the Bible resulted in Dr Geyser being asked to exhibit at his home the wonderful working of the X-ray to a company of priests and clergymen of other denominations as well as laymen, as guests of the Holy Name Society of St. Anselm Church. Before he had done. Dr Geyser had shown a halo of light around his own head and had shown a practical illustration of what might have been meant by the history in the Bible of the descent of the Holy Ghost, in a pillar of fire. Father Ruppert said regarding the remarkable performance “The demonstration presents to me a glorious opportunity, as it must to my fellow priests and clergymen of all denominations, It is an opportunity to shatter once and for all the doubts of the scofter and to cement the belief of the doubt; “It is clearly demonstrated that it is only our limited knowledge of the wonders, that are in the world that causes ua to doubt the possibility of the miracles told of in the Bible. I intend to set to work immediately on a series of sermons in which I will use these illustrations as arguments.” Dr Geyser’s most striking de-. monstration was when, referring to the descent of the Holy Ghost in a pillar of flame, he called for a volunteer, saying he would reproduce the miracle. Thomas McKay stepped to the platform He stood on the platform of glass. On either aide of him were steel poles, a positive and negative rod. These were connected with a twelve-plate static Battery. When the current was turned on there came a snapping and a sparkling all around Mr McKay, and soon the sparks turned into blue flames that curled all about him, and* the man surely stood in a pillar of flame. Soon as the current was turned off Mr McKay was found to be not in the least injured. Next placing the two steel poles on a level with his head, Dr Geyser caused an electric halo to completely surround it.
