Water Power.
Mr Hancock, the American expert engaged by the Goyirnment to report upon the question of utilising the main river* of the colony for generating electrical power, will reach Wellington about the end of August. He ia said to have a great reputation as an electrical engineer. He carried oat the establishment of (he immense power works known as the Bay Counties iiheme in California. Mr Perham, of the Mines Department, has left Wellington to visit various parts of the colony to collect data as to the volume of water, strength of currents, &c., in the main rivers, so that the information may be available for Mr Hancock as soon as he arrives.
