Fire.
About n o’clock on Thursday night 2 large shed used for storing purposes and owned by Mr George Colay was burnt to the ground. The fire was first discovered by Constable Forster and one or two other residents who Oran to the scene of the conon, but found that the fire had already got such a hold that nothing could be done in the way of salvage or ;'Saving the building. * On the door being opened it was found that the fire had started immediately opposite to the door in a quantity of trussed straw. The shed contained about Xaoo in value of potatoes, hay, and other products, the property of Mr George Coley, which is unfortunately uninsured, thus Mr Coley Is a heavy loser. The Foxton volunteers had been using the shed for some time past for drilling, and bad only that evening so used it. Material owned by the corps was also lost, which is estimated at fio. Mr L. Reade, who bad some household goods stored in the shed met a similar fate, one box only being saved by Mr James Symons, Mr Reade estimates his loss at £6O. The building was insured In the Law Union * and Crown Insurance Company for £135, for which Messrs Patterson and Co. ate agents. The origin of the fire Uunknpwn.
