The Training of Army Officers.
Mr Brodrick, Secretary for War, explained in the House of Common* the Government’* new *ch#me for improving the education and training of officers. An Advisory consisting of the heads of the Boyal£t Military Academy at Woolwich Sandhurst Military College, the Universities, head-masters of public schools and Director-General of Military Education, is preparing an efficient syllabus for examination. In future two years will be the course at Sandhurst. The Minister said he hoped to be able to give an increased number of commissions to colonials, Tbut not immediately. He denied that the volunteer movement was starved. In the last year it cost £1,720,000 —a threefold increase since 1870.
