Norfolk Island.

A missionary from Norfolk Island on being interviewed, said the mystery surrounding the political future of the island was causing anxiety to the majority of the people. They were afraid they would be taxed by the Australian Commonwealth, and to that they have decided objections. If there is to be a change they would rather be under New Zealand control. For some reason or other not readily explainable, the majority of the people are anything but partial to New South Wales. The chief arguments against inclusion in the Commonwealth, says the missionary, are the probable heavy taxation, and fears as regards losing their inherent rights to the island by the admission of outside settlers.
