Prohibitionists in Gaol.

At Auckland, W. Richardson, the well-known temperance lecturer, has been arrested and lodged in gaol for failing to comply with the order of the Court in the case against him in connection with the scene at Sir Joseph Ward’s Auckland meeting on the 20th Oct. Richardson was charged with disturbing the meeting and fined £2 and costs, amounting altogether to j 65 7s. Richardson has impressed on his friends that he does not wish any of them to pay his fine. The Auckland Temperance Cm* sade has telegraphed to Mr Seddon: “ Richardson arrested. Do you approve of this injustice and persecution ? ”
