Local Option Poll.
A recount of the local option poll took place at Ashburton on Saturday, and prohibition was carried by 95 instead of 101 as at the first declaration. The figures are—voters, 4625; continuance, 1734 ; redaction, 2489 , no license, 2870; informal, 125. It Is understood that proceedings will be commenced early by the licensed victuallers with the object of getting the poll declared void. The New Plymouth local option figures are not available yet. The Westport local option figures are —Continuance 2413, reduction 1149, no-license 1693, informal 50. A recount of the votes in the local option poll at Chalmers, which was commenced on Saturday, was not completed. The recount of the Newtown local option poll was concluded last night. The result is that prohibition is declared carried by four votes. Tha total valid yotes oast were 4985, of which continuance received 1869, reduction 2777; no license . There were 181 informal votes.
