Foxton Borough Council.

Tho ordinary in v.iUily mating of the above was held last night at 7 80 o’clock.

Present —His Worship the Mayor (Or Hennessy), and Crs Westwood, Symons, Gower, W. Robinson, S. 'Baker and A. Speirs. Or Westwood apologised for the absence of Cr Stiles through indisposition. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

The Mayor said he had a very sad resolution to put to the meeting. Since the lust meeting one of their number (Cr A. C. Baker), had died, which one and all regretted, and showed tho uncertanty of this life. He would propose that this Council very deeply regrets the death of onr late member (Mr A. C. Baker), and tenders to the widow and relatives onr heartfelt sympathy in their bereavement, accompanied with a letter. Carried.

Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the clerk write to Mr Clemett and inform him that the Council will see that the right of way to store house at Post Office is not blocked. Carried.

Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Robinson, That the overseer’s report be adopted with the addition of repairs to No. 1 Line, hole in Baker street, and hole at Avenue Bridge. Carried. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Cr fjpeirs, That the accounts as read be passed for payment. Carried,

Proposed by Cr Symons, seconded by Cr Westwood, That tho Treasurer’s report lie adopted. Curried Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Gower, That a special meeting of the Council be held on Mon-

day, Nov. 17th, at 7.30 p.m., to consider suggested loan for roads, Carried. The Council went into Committee to consider tenders for printing byelaws, and it was proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr (tower, That the offer of E. S. Thynne be accepted for printing 200 Borough bye-laws for ill2. Carried.

Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Gower, That the clerk write to Mr Fitchett for a price for a night-soil cart. Carried. Proposed by Cr Westwood, seconded by Or Baker, That the attention of the .Inspector of Nuisances bo called to the fact that he has infringed bye-law No. G 9 by allowing a dead animal to be buried in a public place. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Westwood, That applications be advertised for the position of niglit-soil contractor. Carried. The Council then adjourned.
